Journal Information

Austrobaileya is the journal of the Queensland Herbarium and publishes peer-reviewed research on plants, algae, fungi and lichens (systematics, morphology, geography, anatomy, karyology, conservation biology and botanical history), with special emphasis on taxa from Queensland.

Publisher Information

The Queensland Herbarium is the centre of research and information on Queensland plants, ecosystems and ecological processes.  It provides knowledge and information fundamental to the management and protection of Queensland’s wealth of plants, animals and ecosystems.  The Queensland Herbarium contains over 810,000 plant, algae, fungi  and lichen specimens, principally from Queensland (460,000) with representation from other Australian states/territories, New Guinea (80,000 specimens) and SE Asia, including 9,500 type specimens.  It has extensive species and ecosystem databases and detailed regional ecosystem maps for 93% (1.6 million km2) of the State. The Queensland Herbarium conducts research on taxonomy, ecology and biology and monitors and assesses the State’s species and ecosystems.  The Herbarium publishes the scientific journal Austrobaileya, and has received awards for its excellence in research (Sherman Eureka Prize for Environmental Research 2005, and the Queensland ICT Award for Research and Development, with CSIRO).
