Rivea corymbosa is a plant of the Bindweed family, which is located as far south as Peru in the south of Mexico.It is widely native to Latin America and is also widely naturalized everywhere.
Common names include Christmas Vine, Christmas Pops, and Snake Plant.The natives of Mexico worship its seeds, calling them oloriuki, and contain the alkaloid lysergic acid amide.

To the natives of the northern and central parts of Mexico, it is known as Ololiúqui (also spelled ololiuhqui, etc.) in Nahuatl, and the natives of the southeast are known as xtabentún in the Yucatecan language of the Mayan tribe, a perennial plant with climbing vines that bear white flowersIt is often planted as an ornamental plant. The plant is also native to Cuba and usually blooms from early December to February. It secretes nectar abundantly, and the honey produced by bees is fragrant and very transparent. It is considered one of the main beekeeping plants on the island.
