Habitat: Sandy, rocky soils in woodland openings and prairies.
Plant: Erect or trailing grayish-hairy perennial with several multibranched stems up to 40 inches long.
Leaves: Alternate, pinnately-compound leaves with 7 to 15 leaflets, each up to 1-1/4 inch long, obovate to elliptic or nearly round with pointed at tips and white edges; densely-covered with pubescent hairs.
Inflorescence: Loose terminal raceme with small deep pink 5-petal flowers 1/2 inch long, erect upper banner with white spot at base.
Bloom Period: April to August.
