Takao Higotai (Takao Hirae belt, scientific name: Saussurea sinuatoides) is a perennial herb of the genus Spruce of the Asteraceae family。
Features
The whole plant becomes pale green. The stems are slightly slanted, reaching a height of 35-60 cm. There are no wings on the stem, branching at the top. Root leaves are usually present at the time of flowering. The leaf blades on the root leaves and the lower part of the stem are grassy, ovate to oblong-ovate, 7-11 cm long, sharply pointed at the tip, heart-shaped at the base, and the edges are large and shallowly curved with wavy edges, violin-shaped. There are short hairs on both sides of the leaves, and the petioles grow to 7-10 cm in length. It is closely related, distributed in the western Kanto region and Shikoku, and grows in rocky areas at the edge of forests in the mountains, and the underside of the leaves is not blue-white like S. amabilis。
The flowering period is from September to October. The head inflorescences are loosely attached to 3-8 in a raceme or scattered shape, and the diameter of the head flower is about 2 cm, and the peduncle is 3-10 mm long. The bracts are green, 17-18 mm long, 10-18 mm in diameter, cylindrical to narrow-cylindrical, with a little arachnoid hair. There are 11-12 rows of bracts, the total bracts are lanceolate, half the length of the inner bracts, and are sharply protruded with the bracts, and the tips are open or gently curved. The head flower consists only of tubular flowers, the length of the corolla is 13-14 mm, the color is pale reddish-purple. The fruit is an achene fruit that grows to 5 mm in length and is oval-shaped.
