Features
Grass with somewhat woody stem base, up to 30 cm tall, with pubescent branches, simple alternate lanceolate leaves up to 70 mm long with very short petiole and dense grey pubescence on the underside, the upper papillose-glandulous. Saffron-yellow flowers with bilabiate corolla arranged in chapters grouped at the ends of the branches. Cylindrical achene fruit that at its end bears a tuft of white hairs.

Distribution, habitat and uses
Native species cited for Chile, Paraguay and Argentina, where it is distributed in the center and north. Its southern limit is La Pampa where it is frequent in dry soils. In Lihué Calel it is sporadic in jarillales in the S zone of the Park.
