An extremely rare and seldom offered species, this Huperzia has flattened leaves appressed to the thin, wiry stems. Each stem branches frequently resulting in a magnificent cascade.

It's not a moss... and it's not a fern. By trade, most people call this 'Club Moss' or 'Tassle Rock Fern'. A beautiful species with dark-green, shiny, flat and round leaves native to the peninsula of Malaysia ( Kedah, Peneng Island, Kelantan, Pahn, Johor), Java, Sumatra, and Thailand. It is an intermediate to hot growing plant. Growing in pots placed in 6" baskets to allow the foliage to hang over the edge of the pot. Note there are a few dry leaves in the pictures. These are sparse and result from importing stress. They are now established and growing new roots/leaves. As time goes by, eventually you will have nothing but solid green leaves on the entire plant. Truly a beautiful species!

Huperzia nummulariifolia takes its name from its coin-shaped leaves (nummus = coin, folia = leaves). Huperzia nummulariifolia consists of forked or braided stems with small, flat leaves. It is found in the wild throughout most of south-east Asia. As a true epiphyte it is highly suitable to be cultivated in a hanging pot. Huperzia nummulariifolia does not produce flowers but forms spores for the purposes of propagation between its leaves.
