Erect perennial, herb or shrub, 0.5-1.3 m high. Fl. yellow-orange, Apr to Jul. Orange/red/yellow sands, gritty alluvial sand, black/brown clay, alluvial cracking clays, limestone, calcrete. Stony ridges and hillsides, floodplains, along drainage lines.
