Antiphytum hintoniorum is described from outcrops of gypsum in north-central Mexico. It is known from only two sites near Cerro Potosi in the state of Nuevo Leon and is notable for its dwarf shrubby habit and ashy-gray, opposite, acicular leaves. Nevertheless, it has a floral structure typical for Antiphytum and, except for its habit, stands relatively close to A. peninsulare.
