Plectranthus are warm-climate plants occurring largely in the southern hemisphere. Closely related to Solenostemon, they are commonly called spurflowers. They can be grown in a cool greenhouse or conservatory or outdoors in baskets, pots or in sunny borders. The foliage is often ornamental and the flowers are small but are often borne in good-size racemes in shades of purple, pink, white, or blue. P. verticillatus has attractive foliage and delicate white to pale mauve flowers.
