A hardy perennial with funnel-shaped flowers carried on tall spikes keep these cottage-garden favourites popular in our gardens. Hollyhocks are best treated as biennials since they are prone to fungal disease if allowed to grow for more than two years. Grow hollyhocks in well drained soil but do add some oganic matter when planting for best results. 'Chaters Double Pink' is a double-flowered variety with rose-pink blooms.
