At night, the maranta leaves fold upward like praying hands giving the plant its common name of prayer plant. These plants like a shaded location. Maranta leuconeura is a well-known houseplant in temperate regions, requiring a minimum temperature of 15 °C (59 °F). In warmer climates it can be grown as groundcover in moist, shady areas. 'Fascinator Tricolour' has a pattern of red veins on the light and dark green leaves

Maranta Leuconeura ‘Fascinator Tricolour’ have green leaves that are threaded with bright red veins, as well as attractively patterned along their midrib with yellow-green splotches.As the leaves tend to fold up themselves at night they are commonly referred to as prayer plants.
