Origin and Habitat: 30 km South-East of Douglas, Cape Province (Type locality)
Habitat: They grows on different kind of stony and gravelly grounds where are very difficult to spot. They closely resemble the surrounding pebbles of their natural habitat, either in colouration and shape, this camouflage allows them to escape detection and is a very effective strategy for escaping predation. They are pollinated by bees, flies, wasps, gnats, bugs and other insects that are common in the area.

Description: Lithops hookeriSN|13004]]SN|13004]] var. susannae is one of the local form of the very variable Lithops hookeriSN|13004]]SN|13004]] distinguished for the less reticulate form and also the smaller size.
Habit: It is a medium to very large species, growing solitary or forming clumps with up to 10 or more heads (mostly 2-4)
Bodies (paired leaves): Up to 46 X 35 mm, usually about 30 X 23 mm, obconical, truncate, top surface flat to slightly convex. The face is elliptical more or less equal. Shoulders, face margins and islands various shades of opaque cream or pale grey, often tinged with yellow, green, pink or pale brown, the margins occasionally banded with more intense colour. Channels various shades of obscurely transluscent greyish green, greenish grey, brown, or orange-brown, sometimes more intensely coloured in the margins. Rubrications obscure dull red.
Flowers: Yellow, often small.
Blooming season: Autumn (in habitat blooms in April)
Fruits: Mostly 6-cambered.
Seeds: Large, reddish.
