Description

Miconia robinsoniana (also called Robinson's Miconia, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Melastomataceae family. It is native to Central and South America and grows in moist, shady forests. It is an evergreen shrub, usually growing up to 1.5 m tall and 2 m wide, with dark green, oval-shaped leaves and clusters of bright red flowers.

Uses & Benefits

Miconia robinsoniana has been used as a natural dye for fabrics, as a source of food for livestock, and in traditional medicine for treating fever, stomach pain, and skin infections.
