Penstemon (rockymountainsflora.com)
Etymology: halli- for Elihu Hall, 1822-1882, Illinois botanist who collected widely in the western states.
Some websites and descriptions indicate this species has hairy anthers. This is not the usual character state, and may be the result of hybridization. Other species in the Habroanthus group hybridize, and may pass on the hairy anther state via introgression. (Andi Wolfe - personal observation)
